Web Work For NRIAI

NRIAI website, www.nriai.nrcs.usda.gov

History

The initial Natural Resources Inventory and Analysis Institute (NRIAI) website was developed by Glenn Lawson and posted at ISU. In the 1998 change in NRIAI directors and staff, the NRIAI website was moved to Temple, and posted on http://waterhome.brc.tamus.edu/NRIAI/ with David Buland as the webmaster. The Natural Resources Inventory and Analysis Institute website was converted and moved to the NRCS website by September 2003; similar to the other NRCS Institute websites. Much of the older material worth archiving had already been moved to the NRI websites. Work on the website was completed jointly by David, Don, and Nathanial.

Content

It is developed following the NRCS state office template. Only the newer technology items were posted, most of the older items directly on the NRIAI site were concerned with earlier NRI inventory collections. It contains the Basic NRCS html template, with some xls, ppt, and .doc files on the associated FTP site.

Future

When/if reorganization occurs; most of this site could disappear. About ten studies/papers/projects would be ported to other locations, following the staff members that developed them; probably into the technology sub-webs for the new technology centers. The website was designed last year to easily separate these projects and port them to other sites.

Until reorganization occurs, the NRIAI site will be maintained on the webfarm, posting new NRIAI developed technologies as they develop.
